In this PGS, ‘fertilizers’ refers to solid inorganic mineral fertilizers.

Larger quantities of fertilizers are available from suppliers to agricultural businesses (fertilizer dealers). They purchase the fertilizers from wholesalers, who buy them from producers and importers. There are a few fertilizer producers and ‘blenders’ operating in the Netherlands.

Deliveries to fertilizer dealers and wholesalers are frequently made by ship. Small batches (in terms of volume) are sometimes delivered by road transport.

Fertilizers are delivered to the end user by road transport. Fixed transporters are generally used.
